The founder and CEO of Serbia’s EXIT Festival<\/a>, Du\u0161an Kova\u010devi\u0107, is organizing the first-ever multi-day, multi-stage music festival at the Great Pyramids of Giza, IQ Magazine<\/a> <\/em>reports.<\/p>\n

The brand-new spinoff festival will likely take place in October 2026 and launch under a new name in order to reflect the spirit of its new setting, Kova\u010devi\u0107 said. The musical direction, he added, is expected to lean heavily on electronic music, a longtime signature of EXIT’s identity.<\/p>\n

“We feel that the pyramids are so symbolic that this event will have everything that EXIT stands for,” he told IQ<\/em>. “There is a lot of darkness everywhere in the world, but many people see the pyramids as pillars of light, so we will be making a strong message with that.”<\/p>\n

Though the upcoming event marks the first multi-day, multi-stage festival at the Pyramids of Giza, the site has hosted several high-profile EDM performances in recent years. Carl Cox, Above & Beyond and Keinemusik have all DJed at the historic landmark, and Anyma is scheduled to take the stage<\/a> there October 10th.<\/p>\n

Organizers have reportedly partnered with Venture Lifestyle, an Egypt-based promoter known for organizing large-scale concerts by Jennifer Lopez, John Legend and the Black Eyed Peas, among others.<\/p>\n

The news marks an ambitious new chapter for EXIT following its 25th and final edition earlier in July due to “mounting pressure” from the Serbian government stemming from student-led anti-corruption protests of the tragic Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse<\/a> of November 2024, which killed 16. EXIT was stripped of all government funding due to its alignment with the protests, Kova\u010devi\u0107 said in a statement released in June.<\/p>\n

Prior to its final edition, EXIT Festival annually attracted 200,000 attendees to Petrovaradin Fortress, earning two European Festival of the Year awards while hosting global EDM superstars like Ti\u00ebsto, Martin Garrix and Eric Prydz. Kova\u010devi\u0107 is leaving the door open for EXIT to potentially return to Serbia down the line, but for now, he’s poised to expand to the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.<\/p>\n
