The EDM scene has no shortage of spectacle, but one DJ in India has taken it to literal new heights.

Mumbai-based electronic music artist TRYPS has claimed to be the “world’s first paragliding female DJ” after dropping a set more than 10,000 feet above Himachal Pradesh, a state in the northern part of India.

Located in the Western Himalayas, the region is known for its dramatic mountain ranges and sweeping river valleys, making it a magnet for paragliding enthusiasts. This time, however, the skies became the backdrop for TRYPS’ DJ set with decks strapped in mid-air. She shared a video that captures the surreal sight of her soaring over the Himalayan foothills while mixing house grooves.

While the stunt has drawn fascination online, it’s also a reminder of the extreme risks involved. Earlier this year, a paragliding accident in Goa claimed the lives of a tourist and instructor when their parachute line snapped, plunging them into a ravine. For would-be imitators, the warning is clear: the line between groundbreaking performance and tragedy is perilously thin.

Still, the feat underscores a truth about electronic music culture: innovation isn’t confined to sound or ground. You can watch TRYPS’ video below.
