Garrix and Alesso, two titans of the mainstage craft, drape “Inside Our Hearts” in the progressive house euphoria that helped catapult them to early success. Cascading synths wash over a propulsive, uplifting drop as Shaun Farrugia’s tortured vocals carry the weight of someone who’s genuinely wrestled with despair.<\/p>\n

A longtime collaborator of Garrix, Farrugia navigates mental health struggles with genuine sincerity here, oscillating between desperate vulnerability and stadium-ready grandeur. His stentorian proclamations about “darkest days” and “powerless” moments tap into that peculiar EDM tradition of transforming personal anguish into communal catharsis.<\/p>\n

“We wanted to make a song that felt timeless,” Alesso said. “‘Inside Our Hearts’ features lyrics that are so meaningful to both of us. We set out to write a song that captures the feeling of the best era of dance music.”<\/p>\n

“Inside Our Hearts” will appear on a new EP from Garrix, ORIGO<\/em>, which he is planning to drop in September. The Dutch EDM superstar says ORIGO<\/em> is “the final missing piece” after releasing Sentio<\/a> <\/em>and IDEM<\/a><\/em>, characterizing the upcoming project as the last release of a trilogy.<\/p>\n

“All three are heavy club-driven projects built around the most requested IDs from my sets over the years,” Garrix explained in a statement. “ORIGO<\/em> marks the end (for now) of the club-focused releases and gives a tribute to the roots I started with ‘Animals.’ A loop ends and a new era begins.”<\/p>\n
