Fresh off his first solo takeover of Ushuaïa Ibiza and now poised for a headlining arena show at London’s iconic O2, John Summit is keeping his momentum locked with the release of “crystallized,” a new single featuring a gripping vocal performance from Inéz.
The long-awaited track arrives ahead of Summit’s return to New York for the inaugural Experts Only Festival, which is being produced by his record label of the same name on Randall’s Island from September 20-21. He debuted it earlier this summer during his Tomorrowland set, where its high-voltage energy and emotive hooks made it instantly memorable and left fans clamoring for more.
The powerful voice of Inéz, with whom Summit collaborated to release the fan-favorite “light years” in March, is the centerpiece of “crystallized,” exposed and impossible not to acknowledge as she belts tortured lyrics that read like a breakup letter she never meant to send: “I loved you once, fire to ice / All of my teardrops, they all crystallized.”
Meanwhile, Summit’s production charges forward in lockstep with that tension and volatility throughout the entire arrangement. Both drops are captivating rushes of energy, pulsing with a bassline that makes it impossible to listen to without moving your body.
