GRiZ and Gryffin have officially released their long-teased collaboration, “Deep Clear Water,” following a wave of summer festival previews and fan speculation.
The track opens with glassy textures and ambient pads stretching into a patient build, with Gryffin’s melodic signature easy to spot. Vocal fragments drift just beneath the surface, stitched into the mix like memories that never fully take shape.
GRiZ’s influence shifts the momentum midway, cutting through the calm with a growling drop. Here, Gryffin traces expansive melodic arcs while GRiZ slices underneath with barbed textures, a brilliant push-and-pull that forces their styles to coexist rather than completely blend. And in that balance lies the track’s brilliance.
“Deep Clear Water” arrives during a moment of heavy momentum for both artists. Fresh off the release of his stellar GEMiNI EP and explosive collaboration with Wooli, “Chaos Theory,” GRiZ is now preparing to launch his new curated festival, Seven Stars. Gryffin continues his run of high-profile collaborations, recently teaming up with Excision and Julia Michals (“Air“) as well as Kaskade (“In My Head“), not to mention his rare official remix of Band of Horses’ “The Funeral.”
